I still need to clean through the chair full of STUFF (all of my random things over the past few weeks) that has accumulated, but aside from that I was able to pick up the dining room (which should actually be called the craft room. I was also able to pick up the living room to some extent. It looks much better overall. This makes me happy.
The kitchen is next after I clear through my stuff. Mostly dishes need to be put away and probably another load of dishes in the wash. I really want to wipe down/disinfect the counters and stove and then I’m set for the time being. Tonight Mom is coming over and she is teaching me how to make her meatloaf I already have her mashed potatoes down but the meatloaf I haven’t made before and I figured it would be cool to make something different than what we’ve all been eating.
Tonight is also catch up on True Blood night. I seriously love that show.
I finally tried out the rolling cart I bought a few months back and the serger successfully fits in the thing. It has an inner cushion strap that keeps the machine from moving around and I like that too. I was hoping to fit both serger and sewing machine in there but only the serger fits. I still need to get one more rolling cart for the sewing machine. Dust is the main concern about getting them covers and I want rolling covers for easier portability. I’m thinking of taking some classes to better learn how to use them. The jury is still out on that. I found the dvd that goes with the serger and I think between that for visuals and the instruction manual I might be able to wing it. I’d really like some one on one instruction on how to use my own machine though. So we will see how much I can comprehend on my own. The sewing machine is basic but I haven’t used one in quite a while. That won’t take long to pick back up. I think if I decide on a simple first project I can get Anna to show me how to thread the machine and I’m pretty sure I can go from there.
I’m looking around and I have books out the wazoo again. I need to read them and give them over to the used book store. There are some books I’d like to keep to just have but I kinda want to save on space so I’m starting to get more books on the kindle app.
This week for my days off I’m thinking of being close to home if not just on my couch but next week I’m thinking of trekking out to Seattle. Not sure yet but it sounds good.
I’m looking around the house and I realize we are getting more and more camping stuff. We have a storage unit but most of it is taken up with our bikes. I want to make a space for all this camping stuff since we aren’t actively camping. I’m looking around and wondering what there is in the house that we have an excess of and what we no longer use and downsize stuff a bit. There is also the outside patio. It needs clean up organizing help BAD. There is a bucket of dirt with old plants that are maybe disintegrating back into the earth. And it’s … just kinda messy.
I tend to ignore or not register a lot of stuff then one day it hits me and I’m all over it. I think I’m getting to that point. Right now I’m feeling calm and good about it. I’m feeling kinda nesting – which is weird because we’ve been here for three years but I’m seriously thinking about what I want/how I want to see things as opposed to just going nuts on the place.
I kinda laugh about it now but I remember in a past relationship the guy relocated me to his place – like seriously moved me across cities and left me in his house which was nothing more than mountains of stuff and papers with a small trail from the living room to the kitchen to the bed room. Left me on my own while he went out all weekend and running around doing what ever and said I could rearrange stuff. I think since that time I just cant let stuff pile up too much without going nuts after a certain point LOL. When he came back everything was pretty much gone. I think something broke and the dumpster got full. I found Hoffa and Davy Jones Locker. His cat (which later became my cat) went nuts running all over the place. I think she had true joy of having a space to run in. File boxes of papers were organized. Moldy stuff tossed out and everything “WTF IS THIS.” went bye bye.
I threw out stuff I probably shouldn’t have and after that promised myself I wouldn’t do that to anyone again, but I had reached my point.
My home right now is NO WHERE near that. Everything is actually used (at some point) but it just gets away from us. There are also unused spaces that I think can be better used – so we’ll see. I need to start with clearing out my stuff first though. I’m always self conscious about that. Then it’s “What about this? What about that? Can we put this here? Can this be give away?” time. Oh it’s coming. LOL. Summer cleaning maybe? Not sure but I’m feeling it. It kinda feels good.
Better get back to it.
